Masturbation Without Pornography

This is sadly something that doesn’t occur in the world today. Most people, when they masturbate, use pornography. I am going to quickly break down 3 reasons why people should start masturbating without pornography. While this subject is taboo, it must be discussed. I know that I will have a much more fulfilling and rewarding sex life, without porn.

  1. It’s not consensual.

I would say the problem is that many performers on these sites have been coerced into performing. What if a porn-star wanted the videos taken down? What if they changed their mind? How would we even know the background of each different act? How could we say for certain? I would say that sex is much more powerful than we have been lead to believe here in the west. This isn’t coming from a religious perspective on purity, it is coming from the perspective on occult teachings. Which gets me into my new point.

  1. I don’t want to bond energetically with strangers.

Think about it. When you are masturbating you are bonding with the pornstars. Whether you are conscious of it or not, it’s occurring. It’s weird too. Right after the video is done, the device is shut off and the porn is gone. That’s just weird to me. If I were to have sex with another person, I would want to bond with them afterwards, and do things that aren’t related to sex. That’s a big part of why I am just against the idea of hook-up culture. It’s an emotional act, whether people are conscious of it or not. Believe me, most people are just watching porn and dis-regarding the emotions that take place during masturbation and sex. There is a bonding hormone that is drawn out during orgasm as well, and if I were to bond with the porn-stars, it creates weird feedback loop.

  1. Kills the sexual imagination

Just like television and movies, a porn video would kill the sexual nature of the individual. I know the arguments against this point “but, but it helps with the imagination because it gives people ideas about sex!” No. People can read literature on sex acts, if they wish to grow their own knowledge about sex. That’s why I have been reading The Joy of Sex by Alex Comfort. That gives me a place to dedicate my energy towards sexual imagination. So this point, is more in line with the thought pattern brought forth in Four Reasons for the Elimination of the Television. That book goes over reason people shouldn’t be watching Television. I read halfway through, and my intuition is just screaming at me that watching videos, has been damaging to my life. I have started to read and write more, which is a real big benefit of turning of social media, movies and television. I even went a step further and removed podcasts and music from my life as well. I will probably not go back for a while, as I need my personality to re-adjust to this change. This sort of gets into the whole idea of sex with other people too though! I am not against having sex with multiple different partners, it’s just that my level of social understanding was maladaptive. I was bonding with people, parasocially. I was doing this through Youtube, Podcasts, Social Media (yes I would consider my old high school friends para asocial bonds) it just isn’t real. I want real relationships with people. I want real friendships with people. I want to have my own tribe. I know 100% that porn isn’t apart of the lifestyle that would get me that. (Along with all the other things I just laid out)

Just to end this blogpost, I want to remind everyone that I would say masturbation is a part of a healthy lifestyle. I don’t fall into the camp of no-fap or semen retention, this sort of stuff can bring out more negative effects than positive ones. Something else I have noticed too, which I’ll just add here at the end, is that I don’t feel depressed after masturbating without pornography. Before, after I finished I would feel all sluggish and gross and icky. Now, I feel fine, I don’t feel icky. So that helps with the sexual shame piece of it. I don’t feel sexual shame anymore without pornography.

I look forward to dive into this topic more, in future blogposts.

Best,

Aidan
