This statement above really defines how most of us think in the modern day. We are taught to not care about the problems around us, day after day, and just to keep to our own. The problems of the world aren’t really for us to solve, right? Bogus, this is a myth and lie. It is a way to slip away from the uncomfortable notion of responsibility.
When it comes to responsibility, it is often a choice. For example, if I were to have children, that would be a choice, and I must take on the responsibility of raising a child. Raising a child is a WHOLE ton of work. Raising a child, is not, providing the basic creature comforts. Feeding a child is not “raising a child”. That is what the general society says raising a child is, but it is not. That is the BARE minimum. Providing shelter, food, stability is the bare minimum. Beyond that, there is the moral raising of that child. That is something that we don’t often see in this day and age. People subscribe to false notions of solipsism. That idea that Truth doesn’t exist. The notions that “I can determine what is truth or not based on how I feel” plague us all. It is such an easy thing to subscribe to, as it makes life easier.
“I don’t think animal cruelty is wrong as I don’t see it as cruelty”
This is a PRIME example of what I am discussing. It’s pure ignorance and more often apathy. The joke is, “what’s worse apathy or ignorance” and the answer is “I don’t know and I don’t care xD”
All jokes aside, people will think in magical terms, as the statement above PROVES. It’s an objective FACT that the meat industry is animal cruelty. We can objectively OBSERVE that the animals are suffering. Aside from that, what does it say about us humans? “We don’t support slavery, but the slavery of other animals is okay!” It’s absurd, disturbing and upsetting on many different levels.
It is all of our responsibilities to be moral individuals. That is a requirement of living. It isn’t that hard either, once you realize that true moral alignment is way easier to succeed in, as it is the natural flow of things.
