The 7 Natural Laws

The Seven Natural Laws are:

  1. The Principle Of Mentalism

  2. The Principle Of Correspondence

  3. The Principle Of Vibration

  4. The Principle Of Polarity

  5. The Principle Of Rhythm

  6. The Principle Of Cause And Effect

  7. The Principle Of Gender

These seven laws were discovered throughout the course of time by multiple scholars. These laws have many different names and meanings over the course of time. In fact, these laws are just example of one overall natural law process within the universe. The best source of these natural laws being put out into the world is through the book called The Kybalion.

The Kybalion is a book that was developed under the pseudonym “The Three Initiates”. As discussed in my last blogpost, the number 3 is a highly significant number over the course of history due to occult undertones referring to the triune brain. The triune brain model is a significant model because it encapsulates the path towards creation. If one is aligned in thought, feeling, and action, one is able to progress in a linear manner towards their goals. This pseudonym may be a reference towards this topic.

The Kybalion was developed in the early 1900s. It is believed to be written by William Walker Atkinson. The main group that these ideas are gathered from is no one school of thought. These ideas are not meant to be purported by any one religion or organization. These ideas are not meant to be safeguarded i.e. “occulted” by any group of people:

“The Hermetic Teachings are to be found in all lands, among all religions, but never identified with any particular country, nor with any particular religious sect. This because of the warning of the ancient teachers against allowing the Secret Doctrine to become crystallized into a creed.”

The statement “warning of ancient teachers… crystallized into a creed.” demonstrates this concept. If one takes a thought or idea, and uses it as object, much like most religion, then the concept isn’t actually put to use. The Kybalion is describing a process that happens most often in religion.

For my more scientific friends out there, this text does come from a metaphysical background. While this may increase the amount of naysayers towards these ideas, it is still important to process this information. Many of the ideas are based in scienfitic literature as well. Such as the Law of Cause and Effect.

We will now break down each law further.

The Law of Cause and Effect

Every cause has its effect and every effect had its cause. Here is an example, I went on a jog today. That jog was simple and easy since I have built up the habit of going to the gym. The effect was based upon multiple cycles (or rhythms) of me going to the gym. Multiple causes and effects building up. Now, when I go to the gym, it is a much simpler process. Another fault in my gym routine is the inability to go to the gym during the winter months. I had never built up a good rhythm of going to the gym in the winter. I instead went into the rhythm of playing Zelda during this las December. I have also played Super Mario Galaxy as of late. Since I am spending much more time playing those games, it’s effect is playing more and more. Whatever gains more, continues to gain, whatever continues to lose, continues to lose. This is a simple principle towards breaking and building habits. We are masons developing our own life patterns. For myself, I never had a good upbringing when it came to habit formation and goal setting. I am an adult now, and it is my responsibility to take lead and stick to habits. The best way to stick to those habits are using these laws.

The law of cause and effect is one of the most important of these laws because everything in the universe has a cause. Casuality is to know why we are the way we are as individuals. Once we realize the cause, we can now change the effects, by changing those causes. As of late, I have divided my room into an office/bedroom set-up. The goal is to prevent sleeping during the daytime. This effect (sleeping during the daytime) will be squashed with this solution as there is no longer the cause (doing work in my bedroom). In addition, I will no longer have the ability to access my video game consoles, my work computer, or the television during the later hours in the day. This will bring much improvement.

These laws can be observed in every aspect of our lives. For example, once I was discussing the implications of taxation with my older sister. This was sometime around my graduation of college last year. When we parked nested to the bar, we parked in front of a tax return building. This was an unconscious process, but it was the effect of our cause of talking about taxation. I was able to observe this process taking place. It wasn’t a “coincidence” as many atheists would say. It wasn’t a “sign” like many religionists would say. It was just simple laws of the universe taking place. When we are able to observe complex cause and effects such as this, we could deem it as “syncromystic”, a term coined by Jake Kotze. This is a portmanteau of synchoronicity and mysticism. Synchoronicity was coined by Carl Jung, and it is “to describe events that coincide in time and appear meaningfully related, yet lack a discoverable causal connection.”

This is exactly what I am discussing here. This can help our understanding of what is happening around us. I have seen “signs” before but with the knowledge of these laws I am able to recognize those “signs” are a simple process in the universe.

The processes of natural law can be used to our benefit when we combine this knowledge with the things we want to change.

The scientific literature also explores this as Causal Notation.

The Law of Polarity

This law encapsulates the idea that everything has it’s poles. Hot and Cold. Dull and Sharp. Left and Right. Every polarity also has its scales. Lukewarm and Chilly.

In the scientific literature, polarity is explored in electricity, geometry, embryogenesis, cell polarity, chemical polarity, and mathematics

The Law of Gender

This law refers to the idea that everything in this universe is either masculine or feminine. This is also observed in polarity, as there is different degrees in gender.

The Law of Vibration

The idea that everything vibrates. We can observe this with the double slit experiment. Basically, scientists sent out a waveform particle and it was a wave until it was observed by a device. This the so called “observer effect”. This means that as we go about our life anything is possible until it is manifested into reality by a device or a person.

The Law of Rhythm

This law explores the concept that everything has it is ups and downs. Day and Night. High Tide and Low Tide. Cycles of The Moon. In-Breath and Out-Breath.

The Law of Correspondence

The Law of Mentalism

This idea is that the universe is mental. Much like our own minds, the universe itself has a mind. While religionists claim that there is a god dicating every life event, this is not want the kybalion means by the mind of god.

If you are not growing your dying.

We all have a path we are going down. We are all becoming something in this world. Whether that be a political official, a school teacher, a researcher or a lowlife scumbag, we are becoming that thing. If you are in a position where you don’t like your life, you can change it simply by instituting new rhythmic habits into our life. The cause of doing the dishes today could lead to the effect of washing your clothes. The cause of washing your clothes could lead to the effect of going on a walk. The cause of going on a walk could lead to the effect of making your bed. The cause of making your bed could lead to the effect of you meeting a new friend. The possibilities are literally endless. For me, I want to make new friends and meet new people. The solution is much simpler than “finding a group or a club” while groups and clubs are great resources, that is all they are, resources. If one truly wants to gain new friends and accquitinces, the better path would be to go on a walk or get out of bed. The butterfly effect will take place and soon enough you could have a nice circle around yourself. It is all about the baby steps which lead to bigger steps. Taking too big a step could lead you back to square one. You would “be on the square again”.
